Guiding Light of The Month

O Lord, how ardently do I call and implore Thy love! Grant that my aspiration may be intense enough to awaken the same aspiration everywhere: oh, may good- ness, justice and peace reign as supreme masters, may ignorant egoism be overcome, darkness be suddenly illu- minated by Thy pure Light; may the blind see, the deaf hear, may Thy law be proclaimed in every place and, in a constantly progressive union, in an ever more perfect harmony, may all, like one single being, stretch out their arms towards Thee to identify themselves with Thee and manifest Thee upon earth. - The Mother

Along the Way… March 2015 Morning Walk No. 355 – A Review

The Sri Aurobindo Society Singapore has been holding a morning walk open to members and friends on the first Sunday of every month.  This activity has been regularly done since 1985 without a single break.  The one held on Sunday 1st March 2015 was Walk No. 355.

A group of around twenty persons met in a very beautiful part of Singapore – an open space near Costa Rhu Condo at the junction of Rhu Cross Road and TanjongRhu View Road.  The weather was somewhat windy and absolutely perfect for a nice walk.

We started with the whole group making a circle and doing several routine exercises, ably led by Saurab Nair.  Then after a group photo we started our walk from that spot towards the Sports Hub Complex some distance away.

This was indeed a beautiful walk.  We were in an area where there was much water around us and we could see some people rowing boats.

The Sports Hub is a very large and beautiful complex.  It was indeed a pleasure and good experience for members to experience walking and going through its various facilities.

I had the great pleasure to meet Mr. Ramadoss in this walk.  He is new to the Society and we together left the rest of the group and enjoyed the walk at our own pace.  I found Mr. Ramadoss a very knowledgeable and interesting person who was deeply immersed into the works of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.  So throughout the walk we thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company and mutually sharing discussions on Indian spiritual thought.

We then proceeded to the house of our host in the Waterside Condominium – Mr. Tapan Kumar and Mrs. Prabha Rao.  Several members and friends who did not join the walk came directly to the home.  As usual we started the programme with meditation followed by birthday and other announcements.

The brunch arranged was indeed very sumptuous with a delicious touch of Bengali style food superbly home cooked by Prabha and her two daughters.

The Society has four quarterly Mangement Committee Meetings viz December, March, June and September.  These are normally held at the host’s place of the morning walk.  So after the brunch we all adjourned to another room and had our Meeting.

The whole programme was highly enjoyable with many thanks to our wonderful hosts.
